- M5.4 - M5.4 Earthquake in the Philippines, MMI V

This earthquake, although not one of the largest, was detected at our Citizen seismic stations, more than 10,500 km away.

M5.4 Earthquake in the Philippines, MMI V
Reading time: Less than a minute

Seismic waves know no distance and can travel across the entire planet, even if we don't perceive them. These movements are so powerful that they are recorded at our seismic stations.

The video shows the moment the wave arrives and, consequently, the seismic alarms are triggered.

Interestingly, the video shows the arrival of the PKiKP wave (green), which reaches the Earth's core and bounces back to the surface, spreading across the planet and triggering alarms in the 1 to 5 Hz range.
