The Blocking of Aid, Rescuers, and Volunteers in Venezuela. Double Earthquake M7.2 and M7.5

Humanitarian aid and rescuers are facing a systematic blockade by the government. The real information reaching us from independent news media differs exaggeratedly from what the government reports.

The Blocking of Aid, Rescuers, and Volunteers in Venezuela. Double Earthquake M7.2 and M7.5
Reading time: 6 minutes

As soon as our system issued the alert for the M7.2 and M7.5 magnitude earthquakes in Venezuela, we began monitoring the seismic waves. At the same time, we joined a live newscast that was broadcasting information, videos, and news coming in from different areas in real-time. For our part, we kept the newscast informed at all times regarding the technical aspects.

The newscast we chose was https://www.youtube.com/@elinformantetv, by Carlos Marin. Truly, one must always turn to official media for verified data, but what we have encountered with the government of Venezuela defies all human logic. From here, we want to send a warm embrace and strength to the Venezuelan people, because they truly need it and will continue to need it. As will be seen below, the government, military, and police cannot be trusted. This YouTuber truly did (and is doing) an extraordinary job, worthy of being a benchmark for communication and freedom of expression.

  • WITHOUT POWER: Many people reported that the power is periodically cut off in several neighborhoods. The population views this as normal. From what it seems, and according to direct Venezuelan sources consulted, they indicated the same to us. The electrical system is truly highly deficient.

  • WITHOUT PHONE SERVICE: No one could communicate with their relatives or acquaintances. Since there was no power, the phone towers, already affected by the two earthquakes, were left without communication. Mostly, the population has to call each other via WhatsApp calls because direct phone calls are prohibited. People indicated that SMS text messages were working.

  • WITHOUT SOCIAL MEDIA: To post on X, the population must do so using VPN connections. These networks are banned in the country. No one could post, stay informed, etc.

  • WITHOUT COVERAGE: People who were able to post had to travel to areas with cell coverage and then return to the previous area. A true odyssey.

  • WITHOUT MAIQUETÍA AIRPORT: The airport was damaged; only small planes could use some of the runways. The airport that has been designated for use is the military one, where planes from all countries keep arriving non-stop.

  • WITHOUT FAST TRANSPORT FROM THE MILITARY AIRPORT TO THE AFFECTED AREA: The volunteers who have been arriving have been moved by bus. People were asking for immediate and rapid transfer by domestic helicopters. This never happened.

  • THE GOVERNMENT DEPLOYS MILITARY AID 48 HOURS AFTER THE EARTHQUAKES: Instead of deploying all available material, the Venezuelan government launched aid to its own population 48 hours later. Nobody knows what happened before these 48 hours. It was the population itself that, with their own hands and without tools, had to start working on the ground to locate victims, whether alive or dead.

  • LONG LINES FOR VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION: Volunteers have been waiting many hours to register and start acting. On many occasions, they were told to return the next day, even though acting within the first few hours is paramount.

  • LIGHTING WITH MOTORCYCLES AND CARS: Neighbors and the population itself have been working day and night. At night, having no electricity, they illuminated the area using the lights of motorcycles or vehicles, pointing their headlights toward the collapsed buildings.

  • REMOTE AREAS WITHOUT NEWS: There are many areas that could be accessed by helicopter. This has not been done yet. These areas remain remote or inaccessible by road. No resources have been deployed to those areas yet. This will inevitably cause the death toll to rise.

  • WITHOUT LISTS OF MISSING OR FOUND PERSONS: It was this newscast itself that allocated means and resources to search for and find missing people with a minimum level of control. The government has not launched any application or method to find them.

  • USE OF CHAVISMO POLITICS: Political videos have been reported where members of this movement can be seen painting walls and doing politics in the middle of this disaster; instead of helping, they take advantage of the publicity of the moment.

  • THE POLICE THEMSELVES LOOTING PROPERTIES: Videos have been seen where owners caught the police themselves on-site, who, instead of assisting the population, were looting buildings, taking advantage of the fact that they had been evacuated by their tenants.

  • THE POLICE BLOCK THE ENTRY OF RESCUERS: Images have also been seen where people who are properly registered are not allowed access to the affected areas. The police limit themselves to indicating that they cannot enter, even if they have authorization.

  • WITHOUT FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION: The media, especially international ones, have limited visits to the area; they can only access the zones accompanied by the police, using two buses, once in the morning and once in the afternoon, without being able to access any area freely. This confirms that they will only be able to report on what the government dictates and in the areas they are taken to. This is not information. There are many areas where people need to be given a voice, and no media outlet will be able to visit them.

  • BODIES ON THE GROUND: There are already bodies piled up on the ground. These images will not be brought to light by the government because it has completely banned media access to those areas. We return to the limitation of freedom of expression. There are areas where the smell is already too strong, and this will unfortunately worsen in the coming days. There are also no body bags or supplies for the hospitals.

  • HOSPITAL DIRECTORS COLLUDING WITH THE GOVERNMENT: There are hospitals that refused donations of food for the people inside them. This is unacceptable given that the entire surviving population is fully dedicated to helping the rest. Live on stream, Carlos looked up who the director of one of these hospitals reporting these blocking problems was, and, curiously, noted that he was a military officer. This practice of placing a military officer in important centers seems to be normal, to keep the entire system controlled.

  • GOVERNMENT, MILITARY, AND POLICE IN COLLUSION: Everything points without a doubt to the fact that all these bodies are intertwined, forming a mesh that is difficult to break through, achieving control of the population by force.

All of this remains to be confirmed, but we have experienced all of this live from this channel and verified all these points in real-time, with nothing prepared beforehand and working live, filled with great devastation and helplessness, unable to do anything. Anyone who wants to verify all of this can do so through the videos that have been recorded on YouTube on this channel throughout these days, from the very first moment of the earthquake, with live images, which will unfortunately allow you to verify every single one of them.

We encourage you to watch the channel's videos from the day of the earthquakes and, at the same time, read the painful comments that have also been recorded from people about the situation they have lived through—unfortunately compounded by the earthquakes and the little help the government has provided them, as well as the constant blockades, looting, etc. Prepare yourselves to see a sad, harsh, and raw reality to understand what it means to experience Venezuela from the inside; if the country was already affected by the government, the two earthquakes have sunk it even further. We warn you that there are many tough hours recorded and very well documented, all in real-time.

From here, we want to send a big embrace to the Venezuelan nation, and we hope that the international community applies pressure to bring all of this to light. Stay strong.
